Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) to run in West End from October

Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) is to run in London’s West End from October.

Adapted by Isobal McArthur from Jane Austen’s novel, Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) sees an all female cast tell the classic romantic story, with added karaoke.

The show will run at the Criterion Theatre from 15 October 2021 with tickets on sale now here. Tickets will be priced from £9.50 to £59.50 with all tickets in previews no more than £25.

The cast will feature McArthur as Darcy and Mrs Bennet, Tori Burgess as Mr Collins, Christina Gordon as Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Jane, Hannah Jarrett-Scott as Charlotte and Charles Bingley and Meghan Tyler as Lizzie Bennet.

McArthur also co-directs with Simon Harvey with comedy staging by Jos Houben, design by Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, lighting by Colin Grenfell, musical supervision by Michael John McCarthy, sound design by Michael John McCarthy and Luke Swaffield for Autograph and choreography by Emily-Jane Boyle.

A synopsis of the show teases:

Six young women have a story to tell. You might have seen them, emptying the chamber pots and sweeping ash from the grate; the overlooked and the undervalued making sure those above stairs find their happy ending.

Of course, they’ve always been running the show – after all ‘You can’t have a whirlwind romance without clean bedding’ – but tonight, the servants are also playing every part.

Men, money and microphones will be fought over in this loving and irreverent all-female adaptation of Jane Austen’s unrivalled literary classic. Let the ruthless match-making begin.

Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2018 and was touring the UK prior to last year’s theatre shutdown.
