Details on the 2023 Panto at Portsmouth Kings Theatre have been announced!
This year’s show will be Hook – The High-Flying Adventures of Peter Pan! and as always a star cast will bring the magical tale to life this festive season.
The role of Hook is to be played by Shaun Williamson, better known as the iconic ‘Barry from Eastenders’ and from Ricky Gervais’ classic- Extras! Joining Shaun will be TOWIE star James ‘Arg’ Argent. This will be James’ second panto for the Kings, having played Dandini in Cinderella back in 2015.
Also on the cast are regular Pompey Panto legend Jack Edwards (Mrs Smee) and cast members Julia Worsley (Mermaid) , Lizzie Rose, (Tinkerbell) and Georgia Deloise (Wendy).
Shaun Williamson said: “The role of Hook is iconic and its an absolute pleasure to get to play this wonderfully wicked character once more. I have worked with both Jack and Arg before so I’m really looking forward to getting back on stage with them both. Pompey’s panto is legendary and it’s great to be back in Portsmouth once again.”
James Argent added: “I am so excited to be coming back to Pompey. Especially because this time I get to play a main character. So far, I have always played more of a side-kick role so to be able to play Peter Pan is unreal. I love Portsmouth too and its fantastic to be back at the beautiful Kings Theatre. I think this year’s panto is going to be better than ever and I can’t wait to get started!”

We have long been admirers of Shaun Williamson who has played the role of Hook in Canterbury and Bournemouth to tremendous reviews. So, when we managed to persuade him to join us for Hook we were over the moon. Arg has been with us before, and the audiences loved him! We are really happy to have him back.
“We always try to make each panto bigger and better than the year before and believe we will outdo last year’s record-breaking Cinderella! We cannot wait to get the audiences in and give them another magical Pompey Panto to remember!”
Hook – The High-Flying Adventures of Peter Pan! will run at Portsmouth Kings Theatre from 1 December 2023 until 31 December 2023.
