Based on the acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked imagines a beguiling backstory to the lives of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters, and reveals the magic that shaped the destinies of two unlikely friends on their remarkable journey to becoming Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked has songs by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, The Prince of Egypt, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and a book by Tony Award-nominee Winnie Holzman.

Direted by Joe Mantello, the production features musical staging by Wayne Cilento, scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Tony Meola, projection design by Elaine J. McCarthy, hair and wig design by Tom Watson, make up design by Joe Dulude II, musical supervision by Stephen Oremus, orchestrations by William David Brohn, music arrangements by Alex Lacamoire and dance arrangements by James Lynn Abbott.

Casting for Wicked in Manchester on tour is to be revealed.

Further confirmed dates for the Wicked tour currently include Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham, Bradford, Southampton, Liverpool, Dublin, Sunderland and Cardiff.

Meanwhile a long-awaited movie adaptation is finally on its way to screens.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will star in the film which will be released in two parts, the first released in November 2024 just before the show comes to Manchester.
