What is the plot of The Great British Bake Off The Musical?

The musical is a tongue-in-cheek homage to the TV show, following a fictional series of the programme both ‘on’ and ‘off’ camera.

In the musical, the show is hosted by Kim and Jim with judges Pam Lee and Phil Hollinghurst. There are eight contestants – Russell, Ben, Babs, Izzy, Hassan, Derrick (Dezza), Francesca and Gemma, a last-minute back up contender who joins after another pulls out.

The stage production follows the series from opening episode, with technical and showstopper challenges just like the TV show. The score sees songs that explore both goings on in the tent and the backstories of each of the contestants and the judges.

Along the way contestants are eliminated, ice cream is stolen and a secret romance is exposed all before a winner is crowned.
