The Wiz revival at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre to stream online

The Wiz revival at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre is to stream online for a limited time.

The new production, playing to in-person audiences at the venue until 16 January, will host nine streamed performances between 22 to 30 January.

Tickets to watch the streams are limited to UK audiences and available via the Hope Mill Theatre website here priced from £25.

The Wiz is a musical retelling of L. Frank Baum’s children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and first opened on Broadway in 1975.

The show features a book by William F Brow with songs from Charlie Smalls, Timothy Graphenreed, Harold Wheeler, George Faison, Zachary Walzer and Luther Vandross.

Casting for the new revival includes Cherelle Wiliams as Dorothy, Tarik Frimpong as Scarecrow, Llewellyn Graham as Tinman, Jonathan Andre as Lion, Cameron Bernard Jones as The Wiz, Anelisa Lamola as Addaperle, Bree Smith as Aunt Em / Glinda, Ashh Blackwood as Evillene and Kofi Dennis as Lord High.

Completing the company are Andile Mabhena, Shayna McPherson, Dylan Gordon-Jones, Samantha Shuma and Marisha Morgan.

The production from Hope Mill Theatre and Ameena Hamid is directed by Matthew Xia with musical supervisor and orchestrator Sean Green, musical director Ehsaan Shivarani, choreographer Leah Hill, assistant producer Chuchu Nwagu, with poster photography by Dujonna Gift- Simms and poster design by Christopher D Clegg.

The casting director is Ryan Carter with support by Anne Vosser Casting; design is by Simon Kenny, associate costume design by Maybelle Laye, lighting design by Simisola Majekodunmi and sound design by Tony Gayle.
