Theatre Peckham announces return of Peckham Fringe for 2023

Theatre Peckham has announced the return of Peckham Fringe for 2023.

The event will be back this summer at the venue for a second year, with 18 productions taking over the main theatre and studio space from 5 May – 4 June 2023.

Last year’s Peckham Fringe included the likes of Tatenda Shamiso’s No ID which went on to run at VAULT Festival and the Royal Court, and David Alade’s Offie nominated Sunny Side Up.

The new 2023 season has been programmed by Theatre Peckham’s Ambassadors, who have worked with Artistic Director Suzann McLean to choose featured shows that reflect Peckham’s local landscape as well as celebrating exciting new voices.

Artistic Director/CEO of Theatre Peckham Suzann McLean said: “At Theatre Peckham, audiences are at the heart of all our decision-making. This commitment is the driving force of our programming; ensuring we have balance across our work and that we bring in new voices, new work and new artists across a range of art-forms. Peckham Fringe 2023 is a first of its kind festival, selected by the local people of Peckham – Theatre Peckham’s team of Ambassadors.

“Theatre Peckham’s Ambassadors have curated a diverse, ambitious, and inclusive programme that speaks directly to our hyper-local community, that will undoubtedly appeal to new audiences as well as regular theatregoers. Collectively they have chosen something for everyone – it’s even better than Netflix!

“As the curators of the festival the Ambassadors said, Witnessing the community and the Theatre Peckham team come together to celebrate and showcase talent has been truly inspiring. We have already seen so many brilliant ideas find space at Peckham Fringe to seed, develop and flourish. We’re excited for audiences to emersed themselves in the fresh, bold new stories that we have selected for Peckham Fringe 2023.”
