Thunder Road Theatre announces new tour for Shock Horror

Thunder Road Theatre has announced new tour this Autumn with their critically acclaimed production, Shock Horror.

The spine-chilling ghost story takes audiences on a terrifying journey into childhood nightmares and the fear of the dark. The play has been described as a mix of Stranger Things and The Woman in Black and is the first of its kind to blend multi-media screen action with live stage performance.

The story revolves around a horror fanatic who returns to his haunted childhood cinema in an attempt to complete his life’s work. However, as his mind unravels, haunting memories from the past resurface, and he must confront something much more sinister.

The tour kicks off in September at The Churchill Theatre in Bromley before moving to venues including the Macready Theatre in Rugby, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Theatre Royal Winchester, Wyvern Theatre in Swindon, Palace Theatre in Southend-on-Sea and Beck Theatre in Hayes. The new tour will conclude at Crewe’s Lyceum Theatre in November.

The cast features Alex Moran as Herbert, Chloe Proctor as Norma, Joseph Carter as Jack and Chris Blackwood as Karras.

Ryan Simons, writer and director said: “Shock Horror was inspired by a desire to create the next horror classic by bringing together our love of scary films and stage horror. We wanted a ghost show that had broad appeal, something that resonated with both teenagers and adults to entice the next generation into the theatre.

“We’ve created a unique experience for a horror show by incorporating a cinema screen within the set design, films are carefully woven into the live action to create a blended performance that makes the play visual, captivating, and terrifying!”
