A filmed version of Vanya with Andrew Scott in the West End is to be shown in cinemas this month.

The acclaimed play will be available to watch on screens across the UK from 22 February 2024.

You can find venues and buy tickets online now via NTLive.com.

The original stage production ran at the Duke of York’s Theatre last October.

Adapted by Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), Scott plays every role in the new adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s masterpiece of love, art, sex and attempted murder, Uncle Vanya.

Hopes, dreams, and regrets are thrust into sharp focus in this one-man adaptation which explores the complexities of human emotions.

Presented by Wessex Grove and Roast Productions, the production has design by Rosanna Vize, lighting design by James Farncombe, sound design by Dan Balfour, video design by Jack Phelan, movement by Michela Meazza, costume design by Natalie Pryce, associate design by Blythe Brett and assistant direction by Francesca Hsieh.

Andrew Scott, on the NT Live broadcast of Vanya, said: “We put our heart and souls into creating this show together, and we are completely overwhelmed and thrilled with the response. I’m honoured and delighted that our version of this masterpiece can be watched by a wider audience through our colleagues at NT live.

“I’ve never been more convinced by the necessity and connective power of live theatre. Long may it reign.”
