We Don’t Talk About Bruno from Disney’s Encanto hits Number 1 in the charts

We Don’t Talk About Bruno from Disney’s Encanto has topped the chart!

The viral hit from the new animated movie musical has become the first-ever original Disney Number 1 single

The Official Charts Company has announced that the song has climbed two spots from its current peak position to the summit of the chart.

It’s the first-ever UK Number 1 for each of the cast members credited on the track; Carolina Gaitán, Diane Guerrero, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Stephanie Beatriz and Mauro Castillo.

The song is written by Hamilton hitmaker Lin-Manuel Miranda who was also behind 2016 Disney movie Moana.

And it’s not the only song from the film currently on the charts.

Surface Pressure by Jessica Darrow has risen to a new peak of Number 5 while opening number The Family Madrigal is at Number 15.

Lee Jury, Senior Vice President, Studios Marketing, Music Group & Stage Shows EMEA at Disney said: “We’re delighted to have our first original Disney Number 1 single of all time with We Don’t Talk About Bruno from Encanto.

“It’s another captivating, infectious track written by Lin Manuel Miranda and we’re so proud of the success of the movie and soundtrack. Not forgetting Surface Pressure, another hit from the soundtrack which is in at Number 5 also.

“Having two tracks in the Top 5 is more than we ever could have expected.. may the success continue!”

Encanto was originally released in cinemas in November and was dropped on Disney+ over Christmas.

The feature film has a screenplay by Jared Bush (Zootopia, Moana) and Charise Castro Smith. Bush co-directs with Byron Howard (Tangled, Zootopia).

Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto.
