A new selection of £40 tickets for An Enemy of the People with Matt Smith in the West End have been released.

This bold reinterpretation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic is directed by Thomas Ostermeier and was initially produced at Schaubühne Berlin.

Thomas Ostermeier’s direction brings a fresh perspective to this enduring play, with a stellar cast including Matt Smith in the role of Dr Stockmann, Jessica Brown Findlay as Katharina Stockmann.

They’re joined by Priyanga Burford, Zachary Hart, Paul Hilton, Nigel Lindsay, and Shubham Saraf.

The production is set to make its mark at the Duke of York’s Theatre, opening on 20 February 2024. Audiences can catch previews from 6 February, with the show running until 13 April.

An Enemy of the People is an exploration of truth in a world dominated by power and financial interests. The story revolves around Dr Stockmann, who discovers a shocking truth about the healing waters in his town’s baths. His revelation sets off a tumultuous chain of events, challenging the established order and questioning the balance of power and truth.

Celebrated director Thomas Ostermeier makes his West End debut with this production. Known for his innovative and provocative interpretations, Ostermeier’s version of An Enemy of the People is expected to resonate with contemporary audiences, highlighting the timeless relevance of Ibsen’s themes.
