Watch Broadway cast of Hadestown perform NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

The Broadway cast of Hadestown have joined forces with NPR Music for a Tiny Desk Concert.

Hadestown is a new musical with book, music and lyrics by Anaïs Mitchell, developed with Rachel Chavkin, based on Mitchell’s 2010 concept album.

Following the intertwining love stories of young dreamers Orpheus & Eurydice and King Hades & his wife Persephone, Hadestown takes audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.

In their NPR concert, filmed before the ongoing lockdown restrictions, a number of the Broadway cast sing five songs from the show: Way Down Hadestown, Come Home With Me/Wedding Song, When The Chips Are Down, Flowers and Why We Build The Wall.

Those appearing are Broadway cast members André De Shields; Kimberly Marable; Jewelle Blackman; Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer; Kay Trinidad; Reeve Carney; Eva Noblezada and Patrick Page.

Joining them are composer Anaïs Mitchell with band members Liam Robinson: piano, accordion; Brian Drye: trombone, glockenspiel; Megan Gould: violin; Ilusha Tsinadze: guitar; Ben Perowsky: drums; Malcolm Parson: cello and Chris Tordini: bass.
