Cast announced for Michael Jackson musical MJ in West End

Casting has been announced for new Michael Jackson musical MJ in the West End.

The Tony-awarding winning show will open at the Prince Edward Theatre from 6 March 2024.

It was previously confirmed that Myles Frost would reprise his Tony-award winning portrayal of Michael Jackson from Broadway.

Joining them are Ashley Zhangazha as Joseph Jackson / Rob, Mitchell Zhangazha as Michael, Philippa Stefani as Rachel, Phebe Edwards as Katherine Jackson / Kate, Matt Mills as Berry Gordy / Nick, Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton as Tito Jackson / Quincy Jones, Matt Gonsalves as Alejandro and Jon Tsouras as Dave.

Kieran Alleyne is the MJ alternate and standby for Michael, Kwamé Kandekore as the standby for MJ and Michael.

completing the adult company are Derek Aidoo, Morgan Baulch, Milan Cacacie, Spencer Darlaston-Jones, Hanna Dimtsu, Aden Dzuda, Marie Finlayson, Christopher Gopaul, Kalisha Johnson, Grace Kanyamibwa, Travis Kerry, Dianté Lodge, Simeon Montague, George Ross, Lydia Sterling, Toyan Thomas-Browne, Taylor Walker, Charlotte-Kate Warren and Tavio Wright.

A rotating cast of child actors will play the roles of Little Michael and Little Marlon.

Inspired by the life and music of the iconic popstar, MJ features a book by Lynn Nottage with direction and choreography by Christopher Wheeldon.

MJ is the electrifying new Broadway musical that takes audiences inside the creative process of one of the greatest entertainers in history.

The creative team is made up of designer Derek McLane, lighting designer Natasha Katz, costume designer Paul Tazewell, sound designer Gareth Owen, projection designer Peter Nigrini, and hair & wig design by Charles LaPointe. Musical supervision is by David Holcenberg, and the orchestrations and arrangements are by David Holcenberg and Jason Michael Webb.

An original Broadway cast recording was released earlier this year.
