Following its release in cinemas, a proshot of Waitress The Musical is now available to stream.

The Waitress movie is now available to buy or rent digitally in the United States and Canada. You can watch on Amazon Prime Video here and on Apple TV+ here. Further releases outside of North America are to be confirmed.

Based on the film of the same name, Waitress tells the story of Jenna a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage.

The musical was filmed live on Broadway with the show’s composer Sara Bareilles in the lead role of Jenna Hunterson.

The live stage recording previously had its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York from 7 – 18 June 2023. It was then released in select US cinemas for a limited time from 7 December 2023.

Alongside Bareilles, the cast of the proshot features Charity Angél Dawson, Caitlin Houlahan, Drew Gehling, Dakin Matthews, Eric Anderson, Joe Tippett and Christopher Fitzgerald.

With a book by Jessie Nelson and direction by Diane Paulus, Waitress originally ran for over 1,500 performances on Broadway between 2016 and 2020, where it was nominated for four Tony Awards. The production returned for a limited period between September 2021 and January 2022 where the filming took place.

A West End production opened in February 2019 with Katharine McPhee. The run was cut short due to the pandemic before heading out on a UK tour.

Bareilles previously played the role of Jenna for three stints in the Broadway production and also appeared in the London cast prior to the closure of theatres.
