Is a Taylor Swift musical on the horizon?

Taylor Swift performing during her Eras tour

Taylor Swift’s reference to Female Rage: The Musical during her Eras tour might not have been just a throwaway comment.

The superstar singer, currently thrilling audiences across Europe, made the remark while performing tracks from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.

This seemingly casual name-drop could indeed be hinting at something much larger in the works.

Last Friday night added more fuel to the speculative fire when Taylor’s company, TAS Rights Management, filed a trademark application for “Female Rage: The Musical”. This move suggests potential plans beyond just a tour quip.

As reported by WhatsOnStage, the trademark application covers an extensive range of media, including downloadable electronic sheet music, musical sound recordings, audio recordings, and digital publications related to music and musical entertainment.

While this could simply be a strategic branding move to protect related merchandise, could Taylor be working on a more stagey musical project?

The hitmaker previously took up a starring role in the movie adaptation of Cats, even writing a brand new song for the film with Andrew Lloyd Webber, and almost played Éponine in Les Misérables on the big screen.

Surprising though, Taylor’s work has yet to make it to the stage, although a new Broadway musical could feature one of her songs.

With her ongoing tour set to continue until at least 2025, a Taylor Swift musical may be a while away – but watch this space…
