James Monroe Iglehart in A Wonderful World

Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart is set to embody jazz legend Louis Armstrong in the much-anticipated new musical A Wonderful World.

The musical is scheduled to start performances at Studio 54 on 16 October, with the official opening night earmarked for November 11.

A Wonderful World boasts a book by Aurin Squire with songs that Louis Armstrong made famous, such as “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “What a Wonderful World,” and “When You’re Smiling.”

The production helped by director Christopher Renshaw, who also co-conceived the show alongside Andrew Delaplaine.

This musical provides a captivating exploration of the life and legacy of the iconic trumpeter, offering audiences a glimpse into his profound impact on the world of music.

Following its world premiere at Miami New Drama in 2021, ‘A Wonderful World’ has graced stages at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans and the Cadillac Palace in Chicago in 2023.

Further casting and creatives are to be announced.
