Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella musical to open on Broadway with new name

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella musical is officially set for Broadway.

After the West End production closed in June, Lloyd Webber has announced plans to bring the show to New York in 2023.

Now titled Bad Cinderella, it will begin previews at the Imperial Theatre on 17 February ahead of an opening on 23 March.

Linedy Genao (Dear Evan Hansen) will star in the title role with further casting to be announced.

The London production, which opened in August 2021 after numerous delays due to the pandemic, played its final performance on 12 June.

Teased as a new, modern spin on the all time classic fairytale, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Bad Cinderella features music from Lloyd Webber with lyrics by David Zippel and an original story and book by Emerald Fennel.

The production will be directed by Laurence Connor with choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter.

An original studio cast album was released last summer on digital services as well as on CD and Vinyl.

For now, you can listen to Linedy Genao singing the show’s title song below…
