Ariana Grande discusses keeping dream role in Wicked a secret
Pop sensation Ariana Grande graced The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to chat about her eagerly awaited role as Glinda in the upcoming Wicked movie, set to premiere later this year.
Ariana shared the fun yet challenging secret-keeping she had to endure after landing the role, which happened just two days before her last appearance on the show.
“I was trying to subliminally tell you through the screen that I got it,” she laughed, recounting her attempt to drop hints with a big pink choker. “It didn’t work…”
Jimmy dug up a 2011 tweet from Ariana, where she gushed about Wicked and expressed her dream of playing Glinda. The tweet read: “Realize again how badly I want 2 play Glinda at some point in my life! #DreamRole.”
Reflecting on the trailer’s response, Ariana said, “It’s just so surreal. This is something that Cynthia and I lived every single day… And to share it with people and to feel the love that we’ve received in response has been really overwhelming.”
Ariana also praised the film’s set designer, Nathan Crowley, for his incredible work on the practical sets. “Nathan designed these incredible sets and spent months and months building them. So what you’re seeing is where we got to be for two years.”
