Cast announced for new revival of A View From The Bridge from Headlong

Casting has been announced for Headlong’s new production of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge.

Headlong will team up with Octagon Theatre Bolton, Chichester Festival Theatre and Rose Theatre to present the revival this autumn.

The production will premiere at the Octagon Theatre Bolton (8 – 30 September) before transferring to Chichester Festival Theatre (9 – 23 October) and Rose Theatre (31 October – 11 November).

Led by acclaimed actor Jonathan Slinger in the role of Eddie, marking his first appearance in an Arthur Miller production, the cast also features Nancy Crane, who will be the first woman to portray Alfieri in a new production that offers a fresh perspective on the play’s psychology and gender politics.

Jonathan Slinger said: “I am thrilled to be working with the highly acclaimed Headlong Theatre and Artistic Director, Holly Race Roughan on what will be my first time taking to the professional stage in a piece by the great Arthur Miller. Being from Lancashire myself, Bolton’s Octagon Theatre is a theatre close to my heart and the ideal venue for us to debut this fascinating new production that examines Arthur Miller’s classic text.”

Nancy Crane added: “Holly’s production is going to be a new perspective on one of Arthur Miller’s best-known plays. I’m excited to be the first woman to play Alfieri and can’t wait to see what it does to the play’s themes of masculinity and toxic masculinity. A modern-day Greek tragedy about love and identity and belonging and revenge, it seems to me incredibly relevant in 2023.”

Directed by Holly Race Roughan, Artistic Director of Headlong Theatre, this modern-day Greek tragedy explores themes of love, identity, belonging, and revenge, making it incredibly relevant for today’s audiences.

The talented ensemble cast includes Kirsty Bushell as Beatrice, Rachelle Diedericks as Catherine, Elijah Holloway as Louis/Immigration Officer, Luke Newberry as Rodolpho, Tommy Sim’aan as Marco and Lamin Touray as Mike/Immigration Officer.

Completing the creative team are associate director Emily Ling Williams, set and costume design by Moi Tran, set and costume associate Mona Camille, composition and sound design by Max Perryment, sound associate Keegan Curan, lighting design by Alex Fernandes, movement direction by Malik Nashad Sharpe, voice and dialect coaching by Aundrea Fudge, fight direction by Kev McCurdy and intimacy direction by Yarit Dor.
