Dear Evan Hansen movie Netflix UK release date revealed

The Dear Evan Hansen movie will be streaming on Netflix in the UK this month.

With a score written by The Greatest Showman songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Steven Levenson, musical Dear Evan Hansen has proved a huge hit on Broadway and in the West End.

The Tony and Olivier Award winning show was turned into a film released in cinemas in 2021.

It will soon be available to watch online on Netflix in the UK from Thursday, 24 August.

The Dear Evan Hansen movie cast features Ben Platt in the title role, reprising the part he originated on Broadway.

Joining him are Julianne Moore appears as Evan’s mum Heidi with Amy Adams and Danny Pino as Zoe and Connor’s parents.

Kaitlyn Dever and Colton Ryan play Zoe and Connor Murphy with Amandla Stenberg and Nik Dodani as Alana Beck and Jared Kleinman.

Dear Evan Hansen follows the poignant journey of a socially anxious high school student named Evan Hansen who, through a twist of fate, becomes entangled in a web of lies and emotional connections. After a tragic incident, a misunderstanding leads Evan to fabricate a deep friendship with a deceased classmate, inadvertently sparking a movement of healing and human connection.

As his deception spirals, Evan must navigate the complexities of friendship, authenticity, and the profound impact of his actions on those around him. The musical explores themes of mental health, empathy, and the transformative power of honesty in an emotionally charged narrative.

The original Broadway production closed in September 2022 after almost 1,700 performances while the West End run concluded a month later in October.
