Frozen West End: First look as Frozen The Musical comes to London
Disney has revealed a new teaser trailer from Frozen The Musical on The West End.
The video goes behind the scenes with the cast and crew as they ready the new production for London audiences.
Frozen The Musical will play the Theatre Royal Drury Lane with an opening night date to be confirmed following delays due to the pandemic.
While we may have to wait a little longer to see the show, the talents of countless people are making sure it’ll be one not to miss.
The video sees Samantha Barks, who will lead the West End cast of Frozen as queen Elsa, giving us a glimpse of all the work underway across the world from Brooklyn and Portland to Cardiff and London.
The clip also shares a first look at some of the scenery and costumes, as well as Sven the Reindeer in action.
Adapted from the hit animated movie, Frozen: The Musical tells the story of sisters Elsa and Anna as Elsa struggles to control her magical ice powers.
The musical features all the big songs from the movie plus more than 10 new ones, all written by husband and wife team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
As well as originally writing the songs for the film, their other song-writing stage credits range from Avenue Q and Book Of Mormon to Disney Pixar’s Coco.
Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that the West End production will be notably different to the current Broadway show.
British director Michael Grandage revealed to BBC News: “We don’t want to just replicate a production. We want it to evolve and respond to the time of watching it.
“And so London will offer us an opportunity to make some adjustments, enhance and develop everything.
“We want to give a bespoke production in England. On one level it could be technical, the magic we use in the show, the spectacle… we want to make sure we evolve with the technology that’s available to us.”
