Hadestown on Broadway reveals new Hermes and Eurydice

Jon Jon Briones and Isa Briones

Olivier nominee Jon Jon Briones and his daughter Isa Briones are set to join the cast of the Tony-winning musical Hadestown on Broadway.

Jon Jon will step into the role of Hermes, while Isa will make her Broadway debut as Eurydice from 19 March.

They are taking over from Tony winner Lillias White and Lola Tung, who will take their final bows on 17 March.

Jon Jon Briones is no stranger to the spotlight, having garnered acclaim for his portrayal of The Engineer in the revival of Miss Saigon both on Broadway and in the West End.

Isa Briones, meanwhile, comes to Broadway with a strong screen background, known for her performances in Star Trek: Picard and Goosebumps.

Hadestown, which intertwines the ancient myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone, currently stars Jordan Fisher as Orpheus, alongside a stellar cast including Grammy winner Ani DiFranco as Persephone and Grammy nominee Phillip Boykin as Hades.

The show recently opened in the West End, returning to London after its UK premiere at the National Theatre in 2018.

The musical, which began as a theatrical concert by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, has been lauded for its unique blend of folk and jazz music, alongside its captivating storytelling.

The creative prowess behind Hadestown includes Tony-winning set designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Michael Krass, lighting designer Bradley King, and a host of other acclaimed professionals who have brought this mythic tale to the stage.

Since its Broadway debut, Hadestown has captured the hearts of audiences and critics alike, winning eight 2019 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Director for Rachel Chavkin.
