Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler to star in Broadway’s new Romeo and Juliet

Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler

Emmy winner Kit Connor and Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler are set to lead a Broadway revival of William Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy, Romeo and Juliet.

The production, directed by Sam Gold, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024 at a yet-to-be-named theatre.

This rendition of the classic play will introduce original music by Jack Antonoff and choreography by Sonya Tayeh.

Describing the vision for this adaptation, the production notes reveal a bleak outlook: “The youth are f**ked. Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way.”

Tickets will go on sale in May 2024. Further casting and more details are to be announced.

This new production is entirely separate from the Jamie Lloyd Company’s upcoming Romeo and Juliet revival with Tom Holland.
