Mean Girls musical to add new songs for West End run
Mean Girls The Musical will get a makeover for its West End run this summer.
Songwriters Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin say the upcoming production will see new numbers following its run on Broadway and on tour in North America.
Nell Benjamin spilled: “It is faster, funnier, tighter than ever. Every version we do we get to do little things better.
“There are some new numbers which we’re incredibly excited about. There’s some not new numbers that are now new… and you’ll just have to come and see exactly what I mean by that.”
Jeff Richmond added: “The audience can expect to see some new material because we’re always looking to change and fix things up as we go along.
“There’s a few new songs we’re going to sing and new jokes.”
Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, the show will open at the Savoy Theatre from 5 June 2024.
Leading the cast of the London show, Charlie Burn will play Cady Heron. The Plastics are Georgina Castle as the charming but ruthless Regina George, with Elèna Gyasi as Gretchen Wieners and Grace Mouat as Karen Smith.
Elena Skye and Tom Xander play best friends Janis Sarkisian and Damian Hubbard while Daniel Bravo takes on the role of Aaron Samuels.
