New British musical Halls to run at London’s Turbine Theatre this summer

New British musical Halls is to be staged at London’s The Turbine Theatre this summer.

A new development production – which will see the creative team working on the material and fine-tuning it during its run – will play from 7 -30 July 2023.

With music and lyrics by George Stroud and Jennifer Harrison, Halls follows eight, first year, university students from all different backgrounds and upbringings who are brought together when they’re allocated the same flat in their Halls of Residence.

The musical follows the students over the highs and lows of their first year at University.

Andy Fickman, who previously helmed Heathers: The Musical, will direct.

Making up the cast are May Tether as Jessie, Ivan Gonzalez as Dan, Kelly Sweeney as Sam, Elena Gyasi as Zoe, Matteo Johnson as Lewis, Jacob Dachtler as Will, Lenny Turner as Josh and Jena Pandya as Natalie.

Halls previously held an online reading in 2020 and released a a first listen to the musical with a number of West End stars getting together to showcase the opening number ‘Flat 15B’. It was also previously performed in workshop form at MTFest 2022.
