New West End concert will celebrate work of Stephen Schwartz

The work and life of musical theatre composer Stephen Schwartz is to be celebrated in a new concert.

Schwartz at 75 will take place at the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End on Sunday, 17 September at both 2PM and 7PM.

It will see performances from Schwartz’s varied works for stage and screen including Wicked, The Prince of Egypt, Godspell, Pippin, Children of Eden and more.

Those set to appear, as well as the man himself, include three iconic West End Elphaba’s – Kerry Ellis, Rachel Tucker & Louise Dearman, who will be joined by Matt Lucas (Me and My Girl), Jamie Muscato (Moulin Rouge! The Musical), Olivier Nominated Alison Jiear (Jerry Springer – The Opera), Rob Houchen (South Pacific), Adam Pearce (The Prince of Egypt), Emma Kingston (Evita), Sharon Rose (Hamilton), Hiba Elchikhe (Aladdin) and Carl Spencer (Hamilton).

The cast will be joined by additional special guest singers, and Stephen Schwartz himself will perform at both shows.

Musical direction will be led by Theo Jamieson and musical arrangements written by Sam Young.
