Ben Platt sings Waving Through A Window in new Dear Evan Hansen film trailer

A brand new Dear Evan Hansen film trailer has dropped as the movie nears release.

The hit Broadway and West End musical will go from stage to the screen this autumn with a release on 11 October in the UK and 24 September in the US.

With a score written by The Greatest Showman songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Steven Levenson, Dear Evan Hansen’s movie adaptation will see Ben Platt reprise his Tony-award winning role as the show’s title character.

In the new trailer, below, we get a first tease of Platt singing one of the show’s biggest songs, Waving Through a Window.

Alongside Platt, the Dear Evan Hansen film cast features Julianne Moore as Evan’s mum Heidi with Kaitlyn Dever and Colton Ryan as Zoe and Connor Murphy.

Amy Adams and Danny Pino will play Zoe and Connor’s parents with Amandla Stenberg and Nik Dodani starring as Alana Beck and Jared Kleinman.

As well as songs from the stage show, new numbers have been penned by Pasek & Paul while Levenson writes the screenplay. Stephen Chbosky directs.

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of socially awkward high school student Evan who is set an assignment by his therapist which sets off a change of events which see him left in the centre of a tragedy.

Alongside the film, the London production of Dear Evan Hansen will reopen at Noël Coward Theatre in October while the Broadway production will resume performances in December in New York.
