Public – The Musical cast revealed at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Casting has been announced for new rock musical Public – The Musical at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The piece, telling the story of four strangers locked in a gender-neutral toilet for an hour, will run at Pleasance Courtyard (Pleasance Two) from 2 – 28 August 2023 (excluding 9 and 21)

The cast will feature Annabel Marlow as Jo, returning to the Fringe having previously starred as Katherine Howard in the original cast of Six the Musical, Alicia Corrales (SIX) as Laura, Hugo Rolland (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate) as Finley and Andrew Patrick-Walker (The Wizard of Oz).

Finding themselves trapped together in a gender-neutral public toilet with an hour to kill until maintenance arrives, this group navigate the unexpected challenges and difficult conversations that arise when confined together.

Winner of the Pleasance’s Charlie Hartill Fund and VAULT Origins Award, this show candidly explores gender identity, toxic masculinity, allyship, mental health and more, all against an original score.

Public – The Musical comes from queer-led theatre collective Stroud and Notes an original musical company conceived by queer singer-songwriter, Kyla Stroud, winner of London’s Busk In London Competition, and composer, co-writer and co-producer of the show.

The team also includes co producer, co-writer and theatre-maker Hannah Sands, co-writer and movement director, Natalie Stroud and musical supervisor, Olivia Zacharia.
