Sara Bareilles reveals she is working on a new musical

Sara Bareilles has revealed she is working on a new musical project!

The composer of hit show Waitress The Musical has teased “something” is soon to be announced.

Bareilles didn’t give much away speaking to BroadwayWorld at the premiere of Waitress, the Musical – Live on Broadway!, where she was asked if she had any interest in writing another musical following Waitress‘ success.

“Yes. There’s something that’s not ready for announcement, but there is something,” Bareilles shared.

We guess watch this space for now!

In the mean time, Bareilles is set to take the leading role in the new filmed version of Waitress which was recorded during its recent Broadway revival.

Based on the film of the same name, Waitress tells the story of Jenna a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage.

The live stage recording is currently making its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Plans for further release, potentially on streaming, and distribution are to be announced. Fingers crossed a UK release date isn’t far out!

Alongside Bareilles as Jenna, the cast of the proshot features Charity Angél Dawson, Caitlin Houlahan, Drew Gehling, Dakin Matthews, Eric Anderson, Joe Tippett and Christopher Fitzgerald.
