Shakespeare’s Globe announces cast of The Duchess of Malfi

Shakespeare’s Globe has recently revealed the cast for its upcoming production of The Duchess of Malfi, under the direction of Rachel Bagshaw.

Making up the company are Jamie Ballard, David Burnett, Tamzin Griffin, Olivier Huband, Arthur Hughes, Oliver Johnstone, Hari MacKinnon, Francesca Mills, Shazia Nicholls and Glyn Pritchard. The production runs 17 February – 14 April at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse in London.

Director Rachel Bagshaw said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be directing this extraordinary play with a company of outstanding actors. This domestic tragedy is a story which still speaks to us now in horrifying ways and was built for intimacy of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.”

A notable feature of this production is the use of creative captioning throughout each performance, accommodating the unique architectural aspects of the theatre.

The creative team is made up of access consultant Zoe Halliday, assistant director Roberta Zuric, associate movement and intimacy director Ana Beatriz Meireles, candle consultant Sally Ferguson, caption designer Sarah Readman, composer Anna Clock, costume supervisor Sabia Smith, director Rachel Bagshaw, dramaturg Zoë Svendsen, fight directors Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown, Globe associate (voice) Glynn Macdonald, movement and intimacy director Ingrid Mackinnon, set and costume designer Ti Green, text consultant Giles Taylor, voice coach Kay Welch, wellbeing, cultural and diversity consultant Carol Cumberbatch.
