Standing at the Sky’s Edge musical live cast recording album released

A cast recording has been released for new musical Standing at the Sky’s Edge!

The co-production between Sheffield Theatres and National Theatre, in association with Various Productions, is currently running in London at the National Theatre following its premiere at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre.

A live cast album was previously announced for release, recorded during the show’s Sheffield run.

It is now available to stream, download and purchase on CD.

Standing at the Sky’s Edge cast recording

Named after Richard Hawley’s sixth studio album, Standing at the Sky’s Edge features both new and existing songs from Hawley and a book by Chris Bush.

The musical first premiere in Sheffield in 2019. It was due to return in 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic.

A love letter to Sheffield and ode to the iconic Park Hill Estate, Standing at the Sky’s Edge charts the hopes and dreams of three generations over the course of six tumultuous decades.

Making up the cast of the new run are Darragh Cowley, Ahmed Hamad, Sèverine Howell-Meri, Samuel Jordan, Bobbie Little, Robert Lonsdale, David McKechnie, Maimuna Memon, Rachael Louise Miller, Baker Mukasa, Alastair Natkiel, Faith Omole, Adam Price, Consuela Rolle, Nicola Sloane, Jake Small, Deborah Tracey, Rachael Wooding and Alex Young.

The production is directed by Sheffield Theatres’ Artistic Director, Robert Hastie.
