Starlight Express celebrates 40th Anniversary with exclusive vinyl release

Starlight Express 40th Anniversary cast recording

In a tribute to four decades of musical theatre magic, the original cast recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic Starlight Express is set for a special release.

Commemorating the 40th anniversary of its first performance, this collector’s edition will be presented on a unique 1LP Zoetrope, scheduled for release on 7 June 2024.

The original London production of Starlight Express made its debut at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in 1984, captivating audiences with its innovative staging and catchy tunes. To mark this milestone, the album will feature highlights from the original cast recording, bringing to life the musical’s most cherished songs. Fans and collectors can look forward to experiencing tracks like AC/DC, Rolling Stock, Light at the End of the Tunnel, and the unforgettable Starlight Express.

This limited edition vinyl, available via Record Store & Sound of Vinyl, is open for pre-order. The album is designed by Zoetrope specialist Drew Tetz, promising an extraordinary visual experience as the vinyl animates with the rotation when exposed to the right light conditions or captured on a phone.

The Zoetrope vinyl will include performances by the original cast, including Stephanie Lawrence, Frances Ruffelle, Jess Shankley, Jeffrey Daniel, and Ray Shell, along with a special bonus track from the 1992 re-launch of the show in London.
