The Devil Wears Prada musical to open in West End in 2024

The musical adaption of The Devil Wears Prada is heading to the West End in 2024!

The show will make its UK premiere at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 9 July 2024 before transferring to London’s Dominion Theatre from 24 October 2024. You can Book tickets now here

The Devil Wears Prada musical is based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger and the 2006 movie adaption which featured Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Hairspray) will helm the new production, which has music by Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub and a book by Kate Wetherhead.

Fresh out of college, aspiring journalist Andy scores a job at the prestigious Runway magazine working for fashion’s most powerful and terrifying icon — editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly.

Sacrificing her personal life to meet Miranda’s impossible demands, Andy finds herself seduced by the glamorous world she once despised. How far will she go to succeed… and will it be worth selling her soul to get what she’s always wanted?

The production has set design by Tim Hatley, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Bruno Poet, sound design by Gareth Owen and casting by Jill Green CDG.

Casting and further details are to be announced.

Delayed due to the pandemic, the musical eventually made its world premiere in Chicago in July 2022 ahead of an expected Broadway run.

However plans for New York were put on hold with John telling Zoe Ball in an interview on Radio 2 last year it was “not ready”.
