Vardy v Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial cast and tickets for play in West End

A verbatim play bringing Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney’s court drama to the stage is running in the West End thissummer.

Vardy v Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trialwill play at London’s Ambassadors Theatre from 6 April 2023 through to 20 May 2023. Tickets on sale now here.

It has been adapted from seven days of the High Court transcript by Liv Hennessy and is directed by Lisa Spirling. Originally running for just the one night on 15 November, the is currently playing select dates at at Wyndham’s Theatre into January.

From sting operations to sensational headlines, this verbatim production will reveal what went on behind closed doors in the case that turned social media sleuthing into high drama. Audiences will see first-hand, and in the words of Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney, how the extraordinary week in court played out.

Vardy v Rooney is a story stranger than fiction, with lurid one-liners and revelations blurring the boundaries of tabloid and court case, social media and soap opera. This unique moment in British media history captivated the country but while public debate raged, only a handful of people witnessed what happened in the trial. The cast of the London run will feature Lucy May Barker (Mamma Mia!) as Rebekah Vardy and Laura Dos Santos (Yes So I Said Yes) as Coleen Rooney.

They’ll be joined by Jonathan Broadbent (The Comedy of Errors) as Hugh Tomlinson QC, Tom Turner as David Sherborne and Nathan McMullen (Misfits) playing multiple roles including Wayne Rooney and Jamie Vardy.

Completing the cast are Halema Hussain, Ceili O’Connor, Tom Sullivan and Verna Vyas.

The production has design by Polly Sullivan, lighting by Ben Bull, sound by Richard Hammarton and Lizzie Manwaring is assistant director.

Following its West End run, the show will head out on tour across the UK.
