Weird Al Yankovic Reveals Plans For Broadway Musical

Weird Al Yankovic, the king of musical parody, might be taking his talents to Broadway.

The iconic musician this week released his first new polka medley in ten years, featuring his take on Miley Cyrus’ Flowers and Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy.

In an interview with Rolling Stone about the release, Yankovic shared plans about other projects in the works, including a potential Broadway musical.

“We’re thinking about it,” he revealed. “We’re having conversations.”

Earlier this year, Yankovic made his Broadway debut as a producer for Gutenberg! The Musical! describing the experience as “a lot of fun.”

Yankovic is also considering a follow-up to Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

“I’ve kind of made a joke that I release a movie every 33 years, like clockwork,” he joked.

“But now that I’ve got a movie under my belt that got good reviews and is award-winning, more opportunities are coming my way.”

Although he remains tight-lipped about specific projects in development, he assures us that more feature films are on the horizon.

A potential sequel to Weird: The Al Yankovic Story might sound tricky, given that Daniel Radcliffe’s Yankovic character dies in a dramatic shootout at the 1985 Grammys.

But Yankovic hints at intriguing possibilities.

“I can’t confirm or deny, but it might be the first biopic ever with a sequel,” he teased.

“It could be a zombie movie. Who knows?”
