Will Young to star in Song From Far Away revival at Hampstead Theatre

Will Young stars in a revival of Song From Far Away at Hampstead Theatre.

Fresh from its run at HOME Manchester, the new production of Olivier Award winner Simon Stephens and Mark Eitzel’s piece comes to London from 28 June – 22 July 2023.

The show marks the multi-award-winning singer/songwriter and actor Will Young’s first live theatre role for a decade.

One crisp winter day in New York, Willem receives a phone call – it’s time to go home.

Home to Amsterdam – to estranged family and forgotten relationships. As he reflects on his life, unwilling to face the future, he finds himself reaching out to the brother he has lost.

“It was then that I decided to write you these letters.”

Song From Far Away is an unforgettable story and a personal letter to those left behind.

The production is directed by Kirk Jameson and co–produced by Thomas Hopkins, Guy Chapman and HOME. The creative team are completed by Ingrid Hu as set and costume designer, Jane Lalljee as lighting designer, Julian Starr as sound designer and Paul Schofield as musical supervisor and arranger.

Will Young said: “I think it’s really exciting. The last time I was in theatre in straight acting was in Manchester around fourteen years ago. When I first read the script the fact that it was a one-man show was really interesting – it’s definitely going to challenge me.”
