Backstairs Billy cast in London’s West End with Luke Evans and Penelope Wilton

New show Backstairs Billy is playing London’s West End – here are the stars making up the cast.

The new play looks at a pivotal moment in the 50 year relationship between the Queen Mother and her loyal servant William “Billy” Tallon.

The world premiere production of Marcelo Dos Santos’ piece is now running at Duke of York’s Theatre in London.

Leading the company are Penelope Wilton as the Queen Mother and Luke Evans as Billy.

They’re joined by Emily Barber, Iwan Davies, Ian Drysdale, Ilan Galkoff, Eloka Ivo, Michael Simkins, Nicole Sloane, with David Buttle, Amy Newton, Keanu Adolphus Johnson, Georgie Rhys and Jacob Ethan Tanner.

Set in 1979, when strikes are bringing the country to its knees and Britain is about to seismically change under Margaret Thatcher, it is business as usual for the Queen Mother and her loyal servant Billy inside Clarence House. Receptions are in full swing and the champagne is flowing as the two worlds start to collide with dizzying consequences.

The production is directed by Michael Grandage with set design by Christopher Oram, costume design by Christopher Oram and Tom Rand, lighting design by Ryan Day, music and sound design by Adam Cork, Wigss, hair & Makeup design by Carole Hancock, casting direction by Jacob Sparrow, associate direction by Sophie Drake and costume supervision by Mary Charlton.

Backstairs Billy is currently booking through to 27 January 2024.
