Following her recent triumph at the Academy Awards, where she secured her second Oscar alongside her sibling and collaborator Finneas for their song What Was I Made For? from Barbie, pop sensation Billie Eilish shared a candid moment from her past.

Reflecting on her journey, Billie disclosed how seeing the Broadway musical Matilda at the age of 12 had a profound impact on her.

She said: “I remember being 12 and seeing Matilda the Musical and sobbing my eyes out because I was like, ‘Damn, I’m a failure. I don’t even have a career…I was bawling from the back in the nosebleeds, and I was like, ‘I’m never going to amount to anything because I’m not in Matilda.”

Billie encouraged others feeling similar: “I would just say give yourself some time and do what you love.

“I know that’s kind of easier said than done because some of us don’t really know what we love.”

Billie ‘s connection to Matilda runs deep, with the Grammy-winning artist previously expressing her admiration for the Tony-winning show, dubbing it her “favorite musical ever” and revealing that she attended its original Broadway run multiple times.

Moreover, Billie has aspirations beyond her music career, with reports indicating her interest in writing a stage musical someday.

With two Oscars and countless Grammies already, it surely won’t be long before Billie joins the EGOT club!
