The new cast recording of Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Musical has been released.

Ghostlight Records has announced the release of the new cast album on streaming and digital platforms today (Friday, 15 December).

The musical, which features music and lyrics by Michael Mahler and Alan Schmuckler and a book by Kevin Del Aguila, is based on the best-selling book series Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, in collaboration with 20th Century Studios. The album’s production is spearheaded by Alan Schmuckler, who also contributed orchestrations, along with vocal arrangements by Schmuckler and Michael Mahler. The executive production is handled by Alchemation and produced by Schmuckler and Kevin McCollum.

Set in the challenging world of middle school, the musical follows Greg’s quest to avoid being at the bottom of the popularity chart, navigating through the trials and tribulations of adolescence. The story brings to life Jeff Kinney’s beloved character Greg Heffley, transforming his cartoon diary into a musical full of humour and heart. Audiences will join Greg as he contemplates the value of friendship and the perils of middle school, including the infamous Cheese Touch.
