Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on a brand new musical

Lin-Manuel Miranda is reportedly working on a brand new musical.

The Hamilton and In The Heights creator is said to be penning a stage adaptation of Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel The Warriors.

The New York Post claims Miranda is working on a musical version of the story, which was turned into a 1979 film.

Exploring urban gang culture set in New York City, The Warriors follows the Coney Island Dominators, a street gang, as they navigate a treacherous journey through rival gang territories to make it back to their home turf after being wrongly accused of a high-profile murder.

The musical would mark Miranda’s first full stage production since the premiere of Hamilton.

Most recently, the composer-lyricist has been working on film projects including tick, tick… BOOM! for Netflix and Disney’s Encanto and live action remake of The Little Mermaid.

He also contributed additional lyrics to new Broadway musical New York, New York, based loosely on the 1977 film and featuring original songs from John Kander and Fred Ebb.
