Louise Dearman and Siubhan Harrison to lead cast of Wonderful Town at Opera Holland Park

Musical Wonderful Town is to play at Opera Holland Park this July.

The 1953 piece, which has music from Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, is adapted from Joseph A. Fields and Jerome Chodorov’s 1940 play My Sister Eileen.

Set in 1930s New York, the musical the story of sisters Ruth and Eileenand their aspirations for success as a writer and actress respectively.

Louise Dearman will star as Ruth with Siubhan Harrison as Eileen in the production which will run 1 to 4 July.

They’ll be joined by Ashley Daniels (Appopolous), Roger Dipper (Frank Lippencott), Tamsin Dowsett (Mrs Wade), Gregory Haney (Speedy Valentine), Emma Harrold (Helen), Jason Kajdi (Officer Lonigan), Alex Lodge (Chick Clark), Ako Mitchell (Bob Baker) and Billy Nevers (The Wreck) with Jade Albertsen and Giles Surridge.

Alastair Knights is to direct with musical direction by Alex Parker, orchestrations by Jason Carr and choreography by Carrie Ingrouille
