Musical Con 2023 dates and line up revealed for return to London

Musical Con has revealed dates and line up for this year’s event.

The new musical theatre fan convention first took place at the ExCel London in 2022.

Musical Con will be back on the weekend of 21 – 22 October 2023. Once again the event will take place at the ExCel London.

Just like the first event, there will be plenty for fans to enjoy and take part in across the weekend with a number of themed areas. The schedule will include unique performances, surprise cast reunions, interviews, Q&As, discussion panels and show spotlights.

There will also be meet & greets with photo and autograph opportunities with your favourite stage stars, plus masterclasses and theatre workshops led by West End cast & creatives.

Special guests announced to appear this year include theatre legends,  composer of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon, Claude-Michel Schönberg, legendary  choreographer and this year’s recipient of the Special Recognition award at the Olivier Awards,  Dame Arlene Phillips (Starlight Express, Grease, Guys & Dolls), and lyricist and composer of fan  favourite’s Heathers, Legally Blonde and Bat Boy Laurence O’Keefe.

Claude-Michel Schönberg said: “Musical Con is helping musical theatre to be understood, appreciated and celebrated by audiences as never before. I am delighted to be part of it and my hope is we will inspire the next generation of young people to work with us in the most wonderful industry in the world.”

Joining them are Matt Henry MBE (Kinky Boots, The Drifters  Girl), John McCrea (Cabaret, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Joanna Ampil (Miss Saigon, Cats,  Waitress), Divina De Campo (Spongebob Squarepants, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Rob Madge (My Son’s A Queer, But What Can You Do?), director and Sheffield Crucible Artistic Director Rob  Hastie (Operation Mincemeat, Miss Saigon, Standing At The Sky’s Edge), casting director Stuart  Burt (Cabaret, Miss Saigon, Standing At the Sky’s Edge), designer Ben Stones (Operation Mincemeat, Miss Saigon, Standing At The Sky’s Edge), director Anthony Lau (Miss Saigon),  writers Jake Brunger & Pippa Cleary (The Great British Bake Off Musical) and choreographer  Mark Smith (The Little Big Things).

Also appearing will be event ambassadors Aimee Atkinson, Trevor Dion Nicholas, Sophie Evans, Alice Fearn, Ben Forster, Shanay Holmes, Lucie Jones, Jon Robyns, Jodie Steele, Miriam Teak Lee and Layton Williams.

The convention will also feature stars of the big screen, with special appearances from blockbuster movie Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical’s Alisha Weir (Matilda) and Meesha Garbett (Red Beret Girl).

Also confirmed for the line up are Michael Ahomka-Lindsay, Bronte Barbe, Courtney Bowman, Tom Francis, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Dom Hartley Harris, Holly Anne Hull, Cassidy Janson, Aisha Jawando, Hannah Lowther, Grace Mout, Natalie May Paris, Josh Piterman, SVN, Tosh Wanogho-Maud, Michael Xavier with more to be announced.

The event will offer up a marketplace full of stalls selling fandom merch and memorabilia, shops selling musical theatre clothing and accessories, and the chance for fans to have their time on the spotlight with cosplay competitions, lip-sync battles and show sing-alongs.
