My Fair Lady revival set to play London Coliseum in 2022

The Lincoln Center production of My Fair Lady is set to play London in 2022.

The recent Broadway revival is scheduled for a limited season at the London Coliseum, reports Baz Bamigboye in the Daily Mail.

Director Bartlett Sher’s version of the classic musical was nominated for ten Tony Awards in New York and played for more than 500 performances between March 2018 and July 2019.

With music by Frederick Loewe and a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, My Fair Lady is based on George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play Pygmalion.

It tells the story of Eliza Doolittle. a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When Professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like a proper lady, an unlikely friendship begins to flourish.

The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, including: “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”
