New musical Death Becomes Her to make world premiere with Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard

New musical Death Becomes Her is to make its world premiere in 2024.

Written by book Marco Pennette with a score by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey, Death Becomes Her is based on the 1992 Universal Pictures film written by Martin Donovan and David Koepp.

The production will premiere at the premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago 30 April 2024, running to 2 June 2024.

Megan Hilty (Smash) and Jennifer Simard (Once Upon a One More Time) will star as Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp with further casting to be announced.

Madeline Ashton is the most beautiful actress (just ask her) ever to grace the stage and screen. Helen Sharp is the long-suffering author (just ask her) who lives in her shadow. They have always been the best of frenemies… until Madeline steals Helen’s fiancé away. As Helen plots revenge and Madeline clings to her rapidly fading star, their world is suddenly turned upside down by Viola Van Horn, a mysterious woman with a secret that’s to die for.

After one sip of Viola’s magical potion, Madeline and Helen begin a new era of life (and death) with their youth and beauty restored… and a grudge to last eternity.

The production is directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli with musical supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell and musical direction by Ted Arthur.
