Nicole Raquel Dennis to lead cast of Dreamgirls UK tour

The Dreamgirls UK tour cast will be led by Nicole Raquel Dennis with new dates announced.

The hit musical will start it’s first ever UK tour in Liverpool in December 2021 before travelling across the UK throughout 2022.

Nicole Raquel Dennis – who is currently appearing in the West End production of Dear Evan Hansen – will lead the cast in the role of Effie White.

Dennis reacted to the news on Twitter: “No words. Here we go. Role of a lifetime.”

After opening in Liverpool, the tour will head to Bristol, Milton Keynes, Sunderland, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Wimbledon, Nottingham, Norwich, Leeds, Canterbury, Plymouth, Llandudno, Aberdeen, Manchester, Oxford, Glasgow, Blackpool, Southampton, Northampton and Birmingham.

Set in the 1960s, the musical follows the story of a young female singing trio – Effie, Lorrell and Deena – called “The Dreams”, who become music superstars.

First premiering on Broadway in 1981, the musical was turned into a hit film in 2006 before making its debut in the West End in 2016.

Featuring classic songs such as And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going and One Night Only, Dreamgirls has music by Henry Krieger with a book and lyrics by Tom Eyen.
