A stage play based on the Paranormal Activity horror movies is to make its debut in the UK.

Paranormal Activity: A New Haunting Live on Stage will run at the Leeds Playhouse from 4 July – 3 August 2023.

It is written by Levi Holloway and directed by Felix Barrett, Artistic Director of Punchdrunk. The play is co-produced by the venue and Simon Friend, the producer behind the Life Of Pi‘s award-winning stage adaptation.

A tease released of the world premiere reads simply: “We can’t say anything else.”

Further details including casting are to be announced.

The Paranormal Activity film franchise is a popular series of supernatural horror movies known for its found-footage style of filmmaking.

Created by Oren Peli, the franchise kicked off in 2007 with the release of the original Paranormal Activity, which was lauded for its low-budget approach and effective scares. The films typically revolve around ordinary people encountering malevolent supernatural forces in their homes, with surveillance cameras capturing the eerie and often terrifying events that unfold.

The franchise has spawned multiple sequels, prequels, and spin-offs, contributing to its status as a cornerstone of modern horror cinema, while also expanding upon the lore of its eerie supernatural entities.
