Schmigadoon! stage musical set to debut in 2025

Schmigadoon

A Schmigadoon! stage musical, inspired by the Apple TV+ series, is set to have its world premiere in 2025.

The show will make its debut at the Kennedy Center from January 31 to February 9 as part of the Broadway Center Stage concert series.

Schmigadoon! features a book and score by Cinco Paul, who co-created the beloved television series. Direction and choreography are helmed by Christopher Gattelli, ensuring the stage version retains the charm and vibrancy of its TV counterpart.

Fans can look forward to iconic songs from the series, including the Emmy-winning hit Corn Puddin’, along with fresh, new material crafted exclusively for the stage.

The musical’s plot follows New York doctors Josh and Melissa, who embark on a backpacking trip to salvage their crumbling relationship. However, instead of finding resolution, they find themselves lost in the woods and mysteriously trapped in Schmigadoon, a magical town that embodies a classic Golden Age musical.

The television series featured a star-studded cast, including Keegan-Michael Key, Cecily Strong, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Dove Cameron, and Aaron Tveit, and was celebrated for its two-season run. Casting for the stage version is to be announced.

In addition to Schmigadoon!, the Kennedy Center’s Broadway Center Stage series will also present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee from October 11 to 20, 2024, and Legally Blonde the Musical from June 6 to 15, 2025.
