The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe to run at Birmingham Rep this winter

The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe will head to Birmingham this winter!

Fresh from a UK tour and run in the West End, the stage adaptation of C S Lewis’ iconic book will transfer to Birmingham Rep on 14 November 2023, running to 28 January 2024.

Step through the wardrobe into the enchanted kingdom of Narnia. Join Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter as they wave goodbye to wartime Britain and embark on the most magical of adventures in a frozen, faraway land where they meet a Faun, talking Beavers, Aslan, the noble king of Narnia, and the coldest, most evil White Witch.

Making up the cast will be Cath Whitefield (The White Witch), Oliver Hoare (Aslan), Jez Unwin (Mr Tumnus), Kudzai Mangombe (Lucy Pevensie), Jerome Scott (Edmund Pevensie), Liyah Summer (Susan Pevensie), Daniel Apea (Peter Pevensie), Ruby Ablett (Mrs Beaver), Shane Antony-Whitely (Maugrim, Satyr, White Stag), David Birrell (Professor, Father Christmas, Wise Owl, White Mouse), Jonathan Charles (Mr Wilson, Red Squirrel, Schroedinger), Jasmin Colangelo (Resident Choreographer), Ffion Haf (Miss Gumley-Warmley, Phoenix), Will Hawksworth (Mr Brinkworth, March Hare, Aslan Puppeteer – Heart), Mischa Jardine (Miss Chutney, Blue Badger, Spirit of the Moon), Michael Larcombe (Mr Granville, Jack Rabbit, Aslan Puppeteer – Head), Samuel Morgan-Grahame (Mr Beaver), Anu Ogunmefun (Mrs Penvensie, Aslan Puppeteer – Tail, Robin), Ciaran Rodger (Cover Aslan Puppet Team, Ensemble Swing Cover) and Alexander Zane (Mr Pope, Fox Trot/Mole).

The production is directed by Michael Fentiman based on Sally Cookson’s initial production at Leeds Playhouse and the Bridge Theatre.

The Rep’s Artistic Director, Sean Foley said: “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a wondrous and beloved family tale – The Rep is delighted to be presenting this acclaimed, sensational production of C.S Lewis’s classic story to the city this Christmas.

“This spectacular show brings the snowy world of Narnia to magical life, with amazing stagecraft, astounding large-scale puppets, and live on-stage music and song. The production is a thrilling theatrical experience for all ages.
