The Story of My Life musical to make UK premiere

The Story Of My Life

Stage Door Theatre is to present the UK premiere of Broadway musical The Story of My Life.

The production will run from 4 September – 19 October at London’s historic Stage Door Theatre in Drury Lane.

The Story of My Life, featuring music and lyrics by Neil Bartram and a book by Brian Hill, offers an intimate exploration of friendship through the lives of two men, Thomas Weaver and Alvin Kelby. This two-person musical follows their journey from childhood at age six, through to their mid-thirties, capturing the joys and trials of a lifelong bond.

The story begins as best-selling author Thomas returns to his hometown to deliver a eulogy for his childhood friend, Alvin, who has passed away under mysterious circumstances. Overwhelmed and unable to find the right words, Thomas is visited by the memory of Alvin, who guides him through a deep and introspective journey into the recesses of his cluttered mind.

As they traverse through memories filled with stories and anecdotes, the musical delves into the complexity of human emotions and the simplicity of the needs underlying them.

The Story of My Life was nominated for four 2009 Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical. Casting for the British debut is to be announced.

Directed by Robert McWhir, this production promises to be a deeply moving experience, inviting viewers to reconnect with the pivotal relationships of their own lives through its compelling narrative and heartfelt music.
