Watch National Theatre’s Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch online for free here

The National Theatre’s production of Frankenstein is available now to stream online for free.

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker.

Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the increasingly desperate and vengeful Creature determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.

Frankenstein is streaming for free from 7PM UK time from Thursday 30 April.

You can watch it on YouTube above. The production will be available to watch on demand until 7pm UK time on Thursday 7 May. It is subtitled and the running time is 2 hours.

Nick Dear adapted Mary Shelley’s work with the production directed by Danny Boyle.

This filmed performance is recommended for ages 12 and up. The recording has been adjusted for YouTube.

Alongside Cumberbatch, the cast features Naomie Harris, John Killoran, Steven Elliott, Lizzie Winkler, Jared Richard, Daniel Millar, Ella Smith, Karl Johnson, Andreea Padurariu, George Harris, Martin Chamberlain, Daniel Ings, Mark Armstrong, John Stahl, Josie Daxter and William Nye.

An alternative stream with Jonny Lee Miller in the roles of the Creature and Victor Frankenstein will be broadcast for free from 7pm UK time on Friday 1 May until Friday 8 May on YouTube here.

The online stream is part of the National Theatre at Home initiative. Although free to watch, donations to the National Theatre, or your local theatre are encouraged.
