Other performers on the show included Sheridan Smith as Cilla in the heart-warming and spectacular Cilla The Musical and West End singing sensation Marisha Wallace

Meanwhile Michael Ball joined Captain Sir Thomas Moore and the NHS choir to perform their chart-topping anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Also appearing were Gary Barlow, Celeste, Melanie C, popular Steps, Stephen Mulhern, and Kenyan acrobats The Black Blues Brothers.

This year’s show was hosted by Jason Manford at the historic Blackpool Opera House in the Winter Gardens Complex, the first time the Royal Variety Performance has left London since 2011.

Manford said: “It’s such an honour to do it. I’ve performed at the Royal Variety 3 times now so to actually get to host it has always been my dream. Hosting the Royal Variety Performance is like a comedian’s Cup Final. It’s a big deal in the industry and of course it’s a big deal for the charity and for the people that it helps. So yes, I was really chuffed to bits. ”

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales will deliver a special message to the charity and the artistes performing in the show, as he looks forward to this exceptional evening of entertainment.

The Royal Variety Performance 2020 aired on ITV on Tuesday 8 December 2020 from 8PM.
